Meet Jon Decker

In answer to a nagging compulsion to show his particular vision of the world to those around him, Jon Decker took up the study of photography in 2001. He has since pursued both traditional artistic technique and a unique technical curiosity in his efforts to expand his versatility behind the camera.

Jon started his photography journey with a borrowed Nikon S3 2000 and a college photo lab. As the demand for color film phased out in the dawn of the digital age, he began to explore in more depth the color processing capabilities of the emerging Canon opticals.

While working nights in print processing for a large commercial press, Jon stumbled across his first copy of Photoshop 3.0 and, inspired by the creative possibilities that the program offered, was hooked. Now, ten years later, with digital photography all around us and Photoshop on its twelfth iteration, Jon couldn't be happier. He mastered each generation of the software through the years, using it to create fantastic and provocative visual effects. Through canny use of technology and carefully honed photographic skill, Jon brings to life his unique, and at times unsettling, perceptions of real and surreal.

Jon has traveled extensively and photographed some the world's most dynamic locations. From the Wall of Seperation in Palestine to the five bridges of New York City, and from the mountains of Arizona to the Great Lakes of Michigan, Jon has captured the beauty of each location through the lense of his camera, exposing in photographs that which only he could see with the naked eye.

The progress of technology doesn't seem to slow, and neither does Jon's need to discover what new technologies can do. Having worked consistantly with DSLR cameras for over six years and with digital manipulation for ten, Jon relentlessly searches for new and better ways to capture the world through the eye of his Canon. In the process, he's also learned what it takes to bring someone else's vision to life through the lense: a skill, he hopes, he can use to help you share your vision with others.
